Markus ‘Notch’ Persson, the creator of Minecraft, is thought to have paid $70 Million for the stunning eight-bedroom house. Minecraft Creator’s Mansion boasts 15 bathrooms, a 16-car garage, an infinity pool (pictured), wine cellar, private theater and a sweet shop.
Beyoncé and Jay Z had their eyes set on the lavish compound but were beaten to it by Mr Persson. The price makes it the most expensive home ever sold in the Hills— and marks a big win for developer Bruce Makowsky, the former handbag tycoon who built the home and who’s quickly reinventing the hyper-priced home market in California. Look at these stunning images of the Mansion.
Minecraft Creator’s Mansion:
1. Outside View
This mansion is the most expensive house in Beverly Hills.
2. Living Room
The 23,000-square-foot, Contemporary-style home, with a wall of glass that provides a 280-degree view of the City of Angeles and the Pacific Ocean below, triggered a bidding war between four buyers.
3. Fully Furnished
Persson quickly decided he wanted the home, paid all cash, and closed in six days, according to the agents who sold him the property.
4. Perfect Home
The estate was a speculative (or “spec”) home, built without a committed buyer, by QVC handbag-seller and Los Angeles home developer Bruce Makowsky, who listed the home for $85 million in September.
5. Roberto Cavalli Place Settings
Persson took the unusual move of disclosing that he was the buyer—as well as the price he paid for the home–via a press release his real estate agent sent to media.
6. 280-Degree Views
Persson, a 35-year-old Swedish video game designer, became a billionaire in September when he sold his company, Mojang, to Microsoft for $2.5 billion.
7. James Dean Motorcycle
Replica of James Dean’s motorcycle. The home also comes with a chromed Ma Deuce machine gun.
8. Bar
The house comes stocked with some cases of Dom Perignon.
9. Candy Room
The dedicated candy room bedecked with large, non-edible M&M’s character sculptures.
10. Infinity Pool
“Once I got a decent job, I never really had to worry about money,” Persson wrote on Reddit last year.
“Now, all of the sudden, as a result of how modern society works, I managed to somehow earn a shit-ton of money.”
